Health & Safety

A Culture of Safety,
Not a Tick-Box Exercise

At ScaffoldPro, health and safety isn't an afterthought — it is the foundation on which every single project is built. From the initial site survey to the final dismantling of scaffold, we apply rigorous safety procedures at every step.

Our commitment to safety protects our operatives, our clients, members of the public, and the properties we work on. We are proud to have an unblemished safety record across more than 500 completed projects.

"Zero incidents. Zero shortcuts. That is our standard on every project, every day."

— James Clarke, Managing Director

Health and Safety

Regulatory Compliance

We comply fully with all relevant UK legislation and industry standards.

Work at Height Regulations 2005

All scaffold structures are designed, erected, and maintained in accordance with the Work at Height Regulations 2005, ensuring safe access for all workers.

Health & Safety at Work Act 1974

We fulfil all duties imposed by the HSWA 1974 — to employees, sub-contractors, clients, and the general public.

BS EN 12811 — Temporary Works

Our scaffolding systems comply with BS EN 12811, the European standard for temporary works equipment performance requirements.

Construction (Design & Management) 2015

We work with CDM coordinators and principal contractors to fulfil our obligations as a contractor under CDM 2015.

NASC Technical Guidance TG20:21

All tube and fitting scaffolding is designed in accordance with NASC TG20:21 guidance, the industry's definitive standard.

Management of Health & Safety at Work Regulations 1999

We conduct thorough risk assessments for every project and implement appropriate control measures.

Safety Procedures

Risk Assessments

Before any scaffold is erected, our supervisors carry out a thorough site-specific risk assessment. This identifies hazards, evaluates risk levels, and specifies control measures. Every risk assessment is documented, signed off, and retained on file.

Method Statements

A detailed method statement is produced for every project, outlining the sequence of operations, equipment to be used, personnel responsibilities, and emergency procedures. These are communicated to all operatives during the pre-start briefing.

Scaffold Inspections

All scaffolds are inspected before first use, after any event that may have affected their stability (e.g. adverse weather), and at least every seven days thereafter. Inspection records are maintained throughout the project lifecycle.

Near-Miss Reporting

We operate a proactive near-miss and hazard reporting system. All incidents, however minor, are recorded, investigated, and acted upon to prevent recurrence.

Equipment Compliance

We only use equipment that meets or exceeds the relevant EN standards. All materials are sourced from approved suppliers, regularly inspected, and taken out of service when they no longer meet our standards.

Steel Tubes
EN 39 compliant steel scaffolding tubes — tested for tensile strength and corrosion resistance.
Fittings & Couplers
EN 74 compliant couplers inspected before and after every use.
Boards
Scaffold boards compliant with BS 2482, with regular inspection and weight testing.
Fall Protection
Toe boards, guard rails, and brick guards fitted to all working platforms above 2m.
PPE
All operatives are provided with hard hats, safety boots, hi-vis, gloves, and harnesses where required.
Ladders & Access
All access equipment complies with EN 131, inspected before every use.

Training & Certification

Every ScaffoldPro operative is trained, certificated, and continuously developed.

CISRS Certification

All scaffolding operatives hold valid CISRS (Construction Industry Scaffolders Record Scheme) cards at the appropriate level — Trainee, Scaffolder, or Advanced Scaffolder.

SSSTS / SMSTS

Site supervisors and managers hold SSSTS or SMSTS qualifications, ensuring strong safety leadership on every site.

First Aid at Work

All site supervisors hold a current First Aid at Work certificate, with first aid kits available on every project.

Manual Handling

All operatives receive manual handling training, reducing the risk of musculoskeletal injuries when handling materials.

Working at Height

Specialist working at height training is provided to all staff, including use of harness and fall arrest equipment.

Toolbox Talks

Weekly toolbox talks are delivered on site covering relevant safety topics, near misses, and updated procedures.
